Erivelto Volpi, MD, Ph.D. is a Head and Neck Surgeon at Oswaldo Cruz German Hospital
and Professor in charge of Graduate Course of Thyroid and Parathyroid at CETRUS
Medical Center in Sao Paulo. He worked for eight years at the Board of Latin American.
Thyroid Society and was a co-founder of the Brazilian Society of Endocrine Surgery. His
main areas of research are thyroid cancer and thyroid and parathyroid surgery, and
minimally invasive procedures. Dr. Volpi was one of the first to introduce.
Radiofrequency Ablation to treat thyroid nodules in Brazil and trained many physicians
from Brazil and abroad in this technology. He published two textbooks about thyroid
cancer and thyroid and parathyroid surgery in Brazil, and he wrote 11 textbook
chapters related to thyroid diseases. He is a peer reviewer of many journals, including
the Brazilian Archives of Endocrinology and Metabolism and Langenbeck’s Archives of
Surgery, and is an Associate Editor of Clinical Thyroidology. Dr. Volpi is a member of
the Endocrine Surgery Board of the American Head and Neck Society and a member and the
American Thyroid Association Research Committee.
